Vic and the Secret Door

Chapter 49: At World’s End…Lesson’s of the Journey….

The group tumbled through the endless black of the now familiar travel they had gone through from world to world. They landed in an unceremonious heap of bodies on what appeared to an empty starship bridge.

“Where are we Mr. Mignogna?” Asked Fai with a perplexed look as he seemed to be looking around. The others also seemed as confused as Fai.

Vic took the moment to glance around. He recognized the bridge they where all on, though the fact it was devoid of people was actually a little strange.

“I believe we are on the bridge of the Enterprise. It’s this science fiction show I’m really found of. Why I don’t know though…”

Ed and Gawl where staring at the Great Silver Powdered Doughnut that had been hanging around Vic’s neck since the battle at the Brigg’s base a while back.

“Hey gramps, I think that silver doughnut thing is glowing…and you never did explain the story behind it either…” said Ed as he pointed to the pendant.

He glanced at Ed. “Its a long story, though it involves me doing your voice and having to sound like I got the crap beat out of me and had a swollen face…”

Ed eyed him with a confused expression, before simply waving his hand at Vic. “Whatever gramps…”

He furrowed his brow at the ‘gramp’s’ remark though didn't say anything. He then looked down at the pendant and drew it over his head, to look at it. It was glowing. If he recalled after the Brigg’s battle, the PMoF mentioned it would be important when they drew close to the end. He clutched the item for a moment as he drew out the last of the boxes from his pocket. He pulled it open, and drew out the paper and unfolded it, before reading what appeared to be a poem of sorts.

“At journey's end, the trials labored, the lesson’s learned, to save the world’s, sacrifice’s at each turn. But as the world’s fade to black, and one finds in each other what each other lacks. Aboard this ship lies in wait, something important to each ones fates. Find them all and name them true, to restore to each a piece of you. Infuse the doughnut with these words, and with it the one thing you would give up forever if you had too. When this will is fulfilled, the doughnut shall become the key, to restoring the balance to all you see…”

He glanced at the doughnut again. So it seemed that if they completed the task in time this doughnut would become the key to save all the worlds and take them all home. He glanced at the viewscreen and it was then he noticed the fact that all around them the stars seemed to be disappearing through what seemed to be a haze of the collapsing worlds.

“So we have to find something important to each of us and name it and the one thing we would sacrifice if we had to to make this key of sorts that will save all of the worlds?” Fai asked with an inquisitive look.

Just then, the PMoF appeared and dropped on top of Zero, who shoved her off quickly and glared at her. She was dressed in an original series style uniform worn by female crew members of the Enterprise. She had blonde hair this time and green eyes.

“Basically yes…you have about maybe twenty-four hours to search this ship from top to bottom to find the seventeen things, one for each box holder who remains. Find each, name them and your sacrifice. Once you find the first sixteen, come to the engine room and Mr. Mignogna’s will be somewhere there. His MUST be the last one. Once its found, the doughnut will become the key that will fix everything and restore everything and take you all home. I’ll be waiting…”

She vanished once more to leave them to there massive search and the time they had left to stop everything.

“So where shall we begin…” asked Zero.

“Well, we could start here,” said Vic. “I think this doughnut might glow if where getting close to something. So I would say look around the bridge here for anything that seems to look like it would not belong….”

The group began to search like mad, and after as short time, Tamaki found something. He pulled from under a console, a rose.

“I think I have something.” He walked towards Vic with the rose. “The Rose reminds me of the friendships I have built and the family the Host Club has become…and if I had to sacrifice something, I would give up the memories of the friendship and my freedom to protect them…”

He watched as the symbol, the rose, vanished into sparkling light and disappeared into the doughnut.

The group moved from place to place, sticking with the likely main vital areas and a few side places searching. As they searched, and each of the things where slowly found and with it each was added to the doughnut, which made it pulse slowly, though the glow would be a bit brighter if they got near another item.

At least twelve hours had passed and they managed to hunt down about eight of the things to find. They now had twelve more hours to find eight more items, before they could go to the engine room and find the final thing which was Vic’s that was needed to complete the key. There next stop was sickbay. They headed down the halls toward it, and where at least halfway there when the ship began to shake violently. It seemed the final countdown had begun and now the race for the last pieces of the key where crucial.

Would they find everything in time? Would they manage to save all there worlds? They had twelve hours left to find out…
